Sugar is as Addictive as Cocaine
When scientists scanned the brains of participants, they found that sugar and cocaine have the same effects. I'm not sure what I think of this finding, but I'd like to see some more information about this.

A Simple Way to Eat Healthy: Cook at Home
I like to watch TED talks, which you can see for free on TED.com. One of the most interesting ones I've seen so far is Teach Every Child about Food by Jamie Oliver (see the video below).
Oliver points out that over the past 30 years, people in the U.S. have stopped cooking at home and the following:
With convenience foods so simple to buy, heat and eat, whole foods have become a trend instead of the norm. Think about it: up until the 1900s, when scientists discovered how to process and engineer food, all people ate throughout history were whole foods.
I hate that a head of lettuce and a 12-pack of snack cakes cost the same price. Jamie Oliver seeks a Food Revolution. I say we start by making whole foods less expensive than their unhealthier, processed counterparts and substitutions.

Your child will live a life ten years younger than you because of the landscape of food that we’ve built around them.

Gluten-Free Meatballs
My husband recently took an online meatball-making class on Skillshare, a site that offers video classes on all different topics. The cost of the classes depends on the teacher. The meatball-making class is free and the executive chef of New York's The Meatball Shop, Daniel Holtzman, teaches it.
I don't know the details about the ingredients that my husband used, but I do know this:
The meatballs, just out of the oven |
- The meatballs have mozzarella cheese in the middle (and some oozing out their tops)
- The meatball mixture included ricotta cheese, eggs, gluten-free bread crumbs, fresh parsley, fresh oregano, ground beef and another type of ground meat
- The meatballs baked in the oven for about 20 minutes at 475 degrees F
- The meatballs taste great with gluten-free spaghetti
